When should i use backer board before I make the shower slope or after?

I am installing a custom shower pan. It will be hot mopped instead of using the liner. After it is hot mopped should I install the backer board then create the cement slope or should i create the cement slope and then use the backer board. And If I should create the cement slope first, should i use silicone in between the backer board and cement slope???
I just found out its called a floating wall.. Should I float the backer board from the top layer of mortar that drains into the drain or should i install the backer board and then set the mortar

You want to do the cement board before doing the slope.Leave the board up off the floor. This helps prevent the board from wicking up water that will be in the hot top.If at all possible you want to do a preslope. That way the tar will slope all water to the weep holes in the drain.
Leave up from the floor 1" - 1 1/2" I most often mud my floors 2" on the perimeter and this will help hold the cement board in tight. Since you don t want to nail below 6/7" from the floor line so you don t "puncture" any tar on the side walls, thus having a potential for a leak.
