Iron Shelf

Is it safe to put a hot iron on these rubber grips on the iron storage shelf?
I don't know what "mainstays" is... but I have an ironing board shelf to the right of my ironing board with a rubber covering over the metal where the hot part of the iron rests. The iron rests there all the time.
To be sure, test it, but I think the rubber is heatproof.
