Day Rings

I love my wedding ring, it's beautiful. However, I don't wear it on a daily basis. I work from home and I just don't put it on every day. My husband hates wearing rings and he can't wear his at his job for safety reasons. So since we don't wear them every day, we often don't wear them out and about, unless we are going somewhere special. This baffles our friends, and they have made many points about how strange this is. I personally don't understand it. Sure the ring is a SYMBOL of marriage but isn't the marriage itself the important part?
It's not strange at all. I wear my rings about once a month. My husband wears his daily. I am a stay at home Mom of three - it would really not be practical or comfy.
I think of it like this...remember the first time that you and a boyfriend were walking along and you didn't feel the "need" to hold hands - that you knew that he wasn't going to go away just because you weren't holding on to him and showing the world that he's yours? That's the way I feel about the ring.
When you really know that the other one isn't going anywhere - and you're secure - the ring is special, but it's just a ring.
I think, perhaps, your friends may be a tad bit insecure and putting more into the rings than their marriage.
